Davis, 90, former owner and operator of Davis Lumber and retired vice-president of Sparks Terrell Lumber Company, died Tuesday at Mayfair! Manor Nursing Home after a short illness. Davis entered the lumber business in 1920 when he joined Jackson Lumber and Supply Company. After working for Jackson Builders Supply he returned to Lexington where he and his late wife, Jessie P.
Davis, owned and operated Davis Lumber. After selling the business to Sparks Terrell Lumber Company, he served as vice president until his retirement in 1969. Davis had also been engaged in the banking business in Lexington and Jackson before turning to a career in the lumber industry. He was a member of Central Christian Church and Lexington Lodge No. 1 Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m.
